What's wrong with these kids nowadays?

Not a thing. It's their parents.

Kids riding ATVs in an equestrian park - parents brought the kids/ATVs there, argued with people who pointed out the rules (and signs), and refused to leave.

GHHS, girl, ticketed the first time, then towed the second time, for parking across an emergency access driveway to home. Mom threatened life of reporting party!

School-day snarls
Lines are long, tempers short as parents drop off and pick up their kids

(Excerpt)

"Those who live near Vista High's back gate at Rush Avenue have endured the SUVs, station wagons and sedans that double-park, stop in the middle of the road and make illegal U-turns. They turned to the Sheriff's Department for help. They got a near-riot.

Among those pulled over were a mother and son whose protest over a citation erupted into a tense confrontation that attracted scores of onlookers. Dozens of students converged on the ruckus as the boy was being handcuffed.

"R.G." [I've removed her name, because it isn't important.] is unrepentant.

"It's just utterly ridiculous to have those officers there," said the mom, who was booked along with her 16-year-old son.

She filed a complaint with the Sheriff's Department."

Is it any wonder that the kid got into a "tense confrontation", and needed to be handcuffed, when his role model has no respect for the law, or law enforcement?

What ever happened to "Gosh, I'm sorry. I was rushing, and feeling overwhelmed, and I did something stupid. I'll try to be more careful in the future." Or "Hey kids - see that sign? Off-roading isn't allowed here. Let's pack up and find a place where it's OK."
