Cuyamaca Rancho State Park

Los Caballos Horse Camp

This is an excellent equestrian campground in the Cuyamaca mountains in eastern San Diego county. It is generally cooler in the mountains, which makes this a nice place to visit during the summer.

All spaces are pull-throughs and have two 12 x 12 pens. The pens are separated by enough space that the horses in them cannot reach each other. There are 2 chains to make a "gate" for each pen, but you will probably want to bring extra rope, or a stall guard, to make it more secure. Water is available - bring your own buckets.

There is a day use area with about a dozen pens, plenty of parking, and picnic tables. The day use fee for one rig (truck and trailer) and two horses is only $5.00.

This is not an official web site for this state park or campground. The information here is strictly from my observations when visiting.
