Ansel Ansel is our oldest kitty. He's named after Ansel Adams, the photographer. We adopted him off the streets - one of about 25 I rescued (caught, tamed, got spayed/neutered & vaccinated, and found homes). People would dump them near the Humane Society, and my family's business was just a block away, so there were always lots of feral cats around. Ansel is sweet and loves attention, but he's very shy. Even though he was only 8 weeks old when caught, he has never gotten over his feral cat attitude. He still runs and hides when people come around. One pet sitter never saw him, just saw that somebody was eating the food. Even though he is old, he is fit and in good health. He runs up trees and chases toys. For some reason he has always loved to play with sticks. He spends most of his time in the house now - there are bigger, meaner cats outside. His predicament inspired a song - "Tomcat Blues", which you can find on my Poetry & Lyrics page.
Enjoying the sun from a good vantage point on a brick planter. Ansel, sleeping on my desk. Supervising my work. Wondering if I have anything good to eat. |
